IND Vs ENG: After falling 1-0 in the 5-Test series against England, Team India's troubles are going to increase further. Former England captain Joe Root dominates the entire batting lineup of Team India in the second Test match starting from 2nd February. For the second test, all the players present in Team India have a total of 10,726 test runs in their account. Whereas Joe Root alone has scored 11,447 runs in Test cricket. In such a situation, Team India seems to be lagging badly behind England in terms of experience.
The troubles for Team India had started even before the start of the series. India's most experienced batsman Virat Kohli withdrew from the first two matches of the series due to personal reasons. Rajat Patidar was given a chance in the team in place of Virat Kohli. Patidar has not even made his debut in Test cricket yet.
After the first test, the troubles of Team India have increased further. Two more experienced batsmen of the team, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja will not be part of Team India in the second test. Both these players have been ruled out of the second test due to injury. The situation is yet to be clear whether these two players will return in the remaining matches of the series or not.
Rohit Sharma trusts youth
Team India captain Rohit Sharma is completely relying on the young players in the second test of the series. Apart from Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin is the only player in the team who has the experience of playing more than 50 Tests. After Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill has the most number of tests in the top order. Gill has played 21 tests so far.
Lack of experience can prove to be a big problem for India in the second test. The sword is hanging on Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer due to being out of form. Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan may get a chance to debut as replacements.
