Jasprit Bumrah stakes claim to captaincy in Test, but because of this it is very difficult to get command theinsiderinsight

Team India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has staked claim for captaincy in the Test format. Bumrah says that Test cricket is the best and if you get a chance to take charge of the team, nothing can be better than that. Since the current captain of Team India, Rohit Sharma is turning 37, there is going to be a need for a new captain in the near future. Looking at the record of Jasprit Bumrah, his claim is quite strong. However, fitness can prove to be a big challenge for Jasprit Bumrah in becoming the captain.

Just before the Test series against England starting from January 25, Jasprit Bumrah has expressed his desire to captain in Test cricket. Bumrah said in an interview, “I took command of the team in a match and it was a great experience. Playing test cricket is very good. If you get a chance to captain then it is even better. We lost the match, but I like to take responsibility. Being a fast bowler, you have to field at fine leg. I like to be involved in every decision. If I get a chance to take command, I would definitely like to take it.''

Questions on fitness

However, fitness can prove to be a major obstacle in Jasprit Bumrah's path to becoming captain. Bumrah has had to face many serious injuries in his short career. Bumrah was injured before the Asia Cup in 2022 and then returned to the cricket field after a year. However, in 2022 itself, Jasprit Bumrah got the chance to captain the Test played against England. But India had lost this match. Along with this, BCCI had also made it clear that Jasprit Bumrah is a part of the leadership group of the team. If Bumrah's fitness supports him, then soon he can be seen taking charge of Team India.
