Varun Kumar Rape Accused: Indian hockey team player Varun Kumar has been accused of raping a minor. Varun is the defender of the hockey team. An FIR has been registered against the Indian player under POCSO. The victim has registered a case at Gyanbharti police station. The minor accused Varun of raping her several times in the last five years on the pretext of marriage.
Let us tell you that Varun Kumar and the victim know each other through the social media platform Instagram. Both of them got acquainted when the girl was 17 years old. During this time, Varun was taking training at Sports Authority of India (SAI). Both know each other since 2019.
After registering the FIR, Gyan Bharti Police is searching for the accused Varun in Jalandhar. Varun is from Himachal Pradesh, but lives in Jalandhar. Regarding Varun, the officials said, “He is running away and the search for him is going on.”
The victim alleged that whenever Varun came to Bengaluru for a match, he used to have physical relations with her. Now the age of the victim is 22 years. But when both of them met, the girl was 17 years old.
Varun is originally from Himachal, but he came to Punjab for hockey. Varun made his debut for the Indian hockey team in 2017. Varun won the silver medal in the Commonwealth Games held in 2022. Apart from this, Varun was a part of the team that won the gold medal in the 2022 Asian Games.
Varun was a part of India's bronze medal winning team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, after which the Himachal Pradesh government also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for him.
