Ravichandran Ashwin Warning England: Ravichandran Ashwin has openly warned England before the five-match Test series. The Test series played between India and England will start from January 25. Earlier, BCCI organized the awards ceremony, in which star spinner R Ashwin was given the title of 'Men's Player of the Year' for 2020-21.
During the award ceremony itself, Ashwin talked about England's 'baseball' cricket. He said that 'baseball' cricket excites him and he is ready for it.
While receiving the award, Ashwin said, “Baseball excites me. This kind of cricket impresses me. The fearless attitude is good and I stand here and know what to expect.”
Only 10 needed to complete 500 test wickets
Ashwin has taken 490 wickets in his Test career so far. Now he needs only 10 wickets to complete 500 Test wickets. Talking about numbers and records, the Indian spinner said, “Numbers don't excite me. They used to excite me when I was a kid. Now, in pressure situations, numbers go to the backyard. The focus is on winning matches.”
Ashwin's test career has been like this till now
Ashwin, who made his Test debut in 2011, has played 95 matches in the format so far. Bowling in 179 innings of these matches, he has taken 490 wickets at an average of 23.69. During this period he has taken 34 five wicket and 24 four wicket hauls. Apart from this, while batting in 134 innings, he has scored 3193 runs at an average of 26.83. During this period he has scored 5 centuries and 14 half-centuries. Ashwin can also play 100 Test matches through the Test series against England if he remains a part of India for all five matches.
