Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa, Nobel literature laureate and an enormous of Latin American letters for a lot of many years, has died, his son stated Sunday. He was 89.
“It’s with deep sorrow that we annouce that our father, Mario Vargas Llosa, handed away peacefully in Lima right now, surrounded by his household,” learn a letter signed by his kids Álvaro, Gonzalo and Morgana, and posted by Álvaro on X.
The letter says that his stays will likely be cremated and that there received’t be any public ceremony.
“His departure will sadden his kin, his buddies and his readers all over the world, however we hope that they are going to discover consolation, as we do, in the truth that he loved a protracted, adventurous and fruitful life, and leaves behind him a physique of labor that can outlive him,” they added.
He was writer of such celebrated novels as “The Time of the Hero” (La Ciudad y los Perros) and “Feast of the Goat.”
A prolific novelist and essayist and winner of myriad prizes, Vargas Llosa was awarded the Nobel in 2010 after being thought-about a contender for a few years.
