The Tenth Schedule of the Constitution has stringent provisions to prevent elected and nominated members from leaving their political parties and to prevent the problem of MLAs switching sides.
Birla said that Narvekar will chair the committee to be formed to review the anti-defection law.
Narvekar had given his verdict earlier this month on petitions filed by both factions of the party to disqualify each other's MLAs under the anti-defection law following the split in Shiv Sena in 2022.
Narvekar is also hearing similar petitions filed by two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
To a question on publication and telecast of the deleted comments in Parliament, Birla said, “This is an issue that needs attention.”
