India Today did a special project 'Confluence of devotion' Under this, a tour of major pilgrimage sites of UP was started in November last year. During this time, an attempt has been made to preserve the historical heritage of religious places like Varanasi, Prayagraj, Naimisharanya, Mathura and Vrindavan.
The message of unity and the power of faith was at the core of the inauguration of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while describing the essence of this moment in his address, had said, “The construction of this temple for Ramlala is a symbol of peace, patience, mutual harmony and coordination of the Indian society. The construction of Ram temple will bring a bright future for every section of the society. It also symbolizes inspiration to move forward on the path of the future.”
Along with emerging as a spiritual center, Ram Temple is working to strengthen the economy of the state through increasing tourism and infrastructure development. The Chief Minister has been vocal about promoting religious tourism for economic development, speaking at several forums about how Uttar Pradesh is set to benefit from the influx of pilgrims and tourists.
Uttar Pradesh is now strengthening its claim as the spiritual center of the country. Every city of the state has its own different faith. The eternal charm of Varanasi, the divine confluence of Prayagraj, the ancient wisdom of Naimisharanya, the mystical allure of Gorakhpur and the Krishna devotion in Mathura-Vrindavan, collectively enrich the spiritual picture of Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister's vision for the state as a religious tourism destination is ambitious, aiming to showcase its heritage to the world.
