CBSE Board Class 3 to 6 Changed: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will release a new syllabus and textbooks for classes 3rd to 6th for the academic year 2024-25 starting from April 1. There will be no change in the syllabus and textbooks of other classes. CBSE Officials gave this information. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in a letter sent to affiliated schools said that NCERT has informed it that new syllabus and textbooks for classes 3 to 6 are being worked on and will be released soon. CBSE Director (Academic) Joseph Emmanuel said, “Schools are advised to adopt these new curriculum and textbooks for classes 3 to 6 in place of the textbooks published by NCERT by the year 2023.”

He said in the letter, “Bridge course for class VI and brief guidelines for class III are being prepared by NCERT so that students can easily study in accordance with the new educational system and new curriculum framework, 2023.” After receiving the material from NCERT, it will be sent online to all the schools. The letter further read, CBSE will also organize capacity building programs for school heads and teachers to equip them with the teaching skills envisaged in the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. The Education Ministry had notified the changes last year while revising the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) after 18 years. NCF has already been amended four times in 1975, 1988, 2000 and 2005. NCERT is in the process of preparing new textbooks for schools in line with the new National Curriculum Framework for School Education-2023 under the implementation of the National Education Policy-2020. “There will be no change in the syllabus and textbooks of other classes for the academic year 2024-25 starting from April 1, 2024,” Emmanuel said in the letter.

CBSE has advised schools to follow the NCF recommendations and incorporate practices such as multilingualism, arts-integrated learning, experiential learning and pedagogical plans wherever possible. In 2022, NCERT had rationalized the syllabus from classes 6 to 12 to “reduce the textbook burden” on students in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the changes scheduled in the new textbooks published last year, NCERT had removed chapters on Mughal rulers, 2002 Gujarat riots, Cold War and Emergency and periodic table.
