11 people died and more than 20 were injured when a bus fell into the pit of Murom clay mine in Durg district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday evening. Superintendent of Police (Cantonment area) Harish Patil said the accident occurred around 8.30 pm near Khapri village under Kumhari police station area, when employees of a distillery company were returning home after work.

According to the news agency, the SP said that according to preliminary information, the bus filled with about 40 people slipped off the road and fell into the 40 feet deep Murom mine. Murram is a type of soil, which is used for construction.

According to the SP, immediately after receiving the information, a police team reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The officer said that the injured people have been admitted to the nearest hospital. The injured are undergoing treatment in hospitals of Raipur and Bhilai.

CM expressed grief on social media platform CM wrote, 'Sad information was received about the accident of a bus filled with employees of a private company near Kumhari in Durg. The news of death of 11 employees is being received in this accident.

I pray to God to provide peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved family. Proper arrangements have been made for the treatment of the employees injured in the accident. I wish him speedy recovery.
