There has been an encounter between security personnel and Naxalites on the Bijapur-Sukma border in Chhattisgarh. A total of four soldiers were injured during the encounter. A security camp was set up today in Tekalgudem village of Sukma to provide basic facilities to the people and keep an eye on Naxalite activities. After setting up the camp, District Reserve Guard, Cobra Battalion and Special Task Force were patrolling the area. At the same time, the Naxalites started firing on them, to which the security forces gave a befitting reply.

Seeing the increasing pressure of the security forces, the Maoists fled under the cover of the forest. During the encounter, one soldier was shot and three soldiers were slightly injured. Police have said in their official statement that the condition of the injured soldiers is out of danger and they are being sent to Raipur for treatment.


It is noteworthy that in the year 2021, 23 soldiers were martyred in a police-Naxalite encounter in the Tekalgudem forest.

Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sunderraj P. said that Bastar Police and the deployed security forces are determined to free the people of the area from the Naxal problem. He said that despite the huge loss caused in the Tekalgudem encounter in the year 2021, today again in the public interest, we will strongly establish a camp in Tekalgudem village and work dedicatedly for the peace, security and development of the area.

Sukma is one of the seven districts of Naxal-affected Bastar region of the state.
