In view of the massive protests by farmers in Noida and Greater Noida, the Gautam Buddha Nagar police administration has imposed Section 144 in the district on February 7 and 8. Police has also issued a traffic advisory, in which commuters have been warned against diversion on some routes in Noida and Greater Noida due to the farmers' tractor march. Let us tell you that farmers organizations are protesting from December 2023 demanding increased compensation and land plots in exchange for their lands acquired by Noida and Greater Noida Development Authority.

To increase pressure on the state government and local administration regarding their demands, farmer groups have called 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' on 7th February and have announced to take out a protest march till Parliament in the capital Delhi on 8th. Additional DCP (Law and Order) Hridesh Katheria said, 'Farmers are proposed to organize a Mahapanchayat on February 7 and march to Parliament in Delhi on February 8. Some other demonstration programs are also proposed by various organizations during this period. In view of this, the possibility of disturbing peace by anti-social elements cannot be ruled out.

Section 144 imposed in Noida and Greater Noida on 7 and 8 February

Keeping in mind the farmers' protests, Noida and Greater Noida Police have imposed Section 144 on 7 and 8 February. Under this, there will be a ban on gathering of more than 5 people and any other type of processions including religious and political. Traffic police has warned the public about diversion on other routes of Dadri, Tilapata, Surajpur, Sirsa, Rampur-Fatehpur and Greater Noida. In an advisory, the traffic police said, 'Travellers should use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience on February 7 and 8. Farmers say that the problems of the farmers are not being taken seriously by the authority. District President of Kisan Sabha, Rupesh Verma said that the issues facing farmers in all three authorities in Gautam Buddha Nagar are similar. The issue of 10% residential plot is pending for approval from the government after being passed by the board meeting of the three authorities. Farmer leader Sunil Fauji announced that a large number of farmers will be included in the movement by linking all other organizations. Sukhbir Khalipa said that thousands of farmers from all 81 villages of Noida will take out a tractor march on February 8 to surround the Parliament.
