Mamta's yes and no
Amid the ongoing controversy over seat sharing in Bengal, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee refused to form an electoral alliance with Congress. On behalf of TMC, Mamata Banerjee had offered only 2 seats to Congress in Bengal. Besides, there was demand for seats in some other north-eastern states also. In the absence of any proper response from the Congress high command regarding seat sharing, TMC announced to break the alliance. However, TMC leaders are still calling themselves part of the India alliance.
Kejriwal is silent, Bhagwant Maan is attacking
Meetings have been held twice regarding seat sharing between the common man and Congress. But meanwhile, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann has announced to contest the elections alone in Punjab. However, till now no comment has come from the central leadership of Aam Aadmi Party regarding this. Till now no statement has come out from Arvind Kejriwal or Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha in opposition to Congress or India alliance. Political experts are seeing Bhagwant Mann's statement as a part of pressure politics.
Nitish Kumar is putting pressure on Congress and RJD
There are reports of Nitish Kumar joining NDA in the media across the country. But till now Nitish Kumar or any leader of his party has not given any statement regarding this. Even senior JDU leader KC Tyagi said on Thursday that the India alliance is safe. Everything is fine in the Grand Alliance also. JDU is still part of the India alliance.
Allies are angry with Congress's stance
After the initial meetings of the India Alliance and the results of the Karnataka elections, other opposition parties are uncomfortable with the stance of the Congress Party. Nitish Kumar and Mamata Banerjee have raised questions several times regarding the delay in seat sharing by the Congress party. Besides, these parties demand that a common program for pre-poll alliance should also be prepared, but there is anger among the non-Congress parties due to lack of proper initiative from the Congress side.
These parties are opening their cards one by one
Due to the delay in seat distribution, all the parties are revealing their cards one after the other. Arvind Kejriwal first announced his candidate from Bhuj Lok Sabha seat of Gujarat. After this, Nitish Kumar announced the candidate from Sitamarhi in Bihar and one seat in Arunachal Pradesh.
Congress did not support these parties even in the assembly elections.
In the recently held assembly elections, Congress did not take its allies into confidence. Despite the initiative from Samajwadi Party, not a single seat was left by Congress for SP in Madhya Pradesh. Similarly, in the elections held in Chhattisgarh adjacent to Jharkhand, Congress did not take any kind of alliance or help in election campaign with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Nitish Kumar's party had also fielded its candidates in Madhya Pradesh.
Lack of coordination in 'India' alliance
Even after 4-5 big meetings, there is a lack of any single leader to coordinate in the India alliance. This is being seen as an important factor in the difficulties in communication and coordination between all parties. Initially there was talk that a common office would also be set up in Delhi by the India Alliance, however, no such initiative has been taken yet.
