During interrogation of the crew members of the fishing vessel, it was revealed that the Somalian pirates were carrying AK-47s, hand grenades and rocket launchers. He told that the pirates had threatened to kill the crew members if they did anything.
After rescuing the crew members and detaining the pirates, Indian Navy commandos inspected the ship and recovered 728 live AK-47 bullets, a GPS (Global Positioning System) device and 8 mobile phones, he said. . According to the official, the pirates threw their weapons into the sea after being warned by Indian Navy commandos. He told that the Navy handed over the pirates to Mumbai Police, who arrested them.
The Mumbai Police registered a case against the pirates under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Anti-Piracy Act, Passport Act and Foreigners Act and arrested them, the official said. The arrested pirates were identified as Geli Jama Farah (50), Ahmed Bashir Omar (42), Abdikarin Mohammed Shayer (34), Adan Hassan Warmase (44), Mohammed Abdi Ahmed (34), Abdikadir Mohammed Ali (28), Aydid Made in the form of Mohammed. Police said that Jimale (30), Saeed Yasin Adan (25) and Jama Saeed Elmi (18) are involved.
