MLAs from allies of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) led alliance expressed solidarity with the Hemant Soren government in a meeting on Tuesday. According to the report, the MLAs have also signed a letter of support without anyone's name amid speculations about handing over the command to Chief Minister's wife Kalpana Soren.
Kalpana Soren was also present in this meeting. This is the first time that Kalpana Soren has attended any meeting of Hemant government. However, on speculations about Kalpana Soren being made the Chief Minister, the MLAs said that no such discussion was held in the meeting.

There may be legal hurdles
According to experts, there may be legal hurdles in making Kalpana the CM. According to constitutional provisions, if the tenure of the Assembly is less than one year left, then mid-term elections cannot be held. In such a situation, it will be difficult for Kalpana Soren to become CM, because she is not an MLA. If such a hurdle arises, then someone else will be made the Chief Minister.
However, everything will be decided only after the result of ED's inquiry on Wednesday, because if Hemant Soren is not arrested, he will remain the Chief Minister.
Hemant Soren returned to Ranchi after 31 hours
Earlier, BJP had claimed that Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren was 'missing'. Hemant Soren came to Ranchi on Tuesday afternoon after 31 hours amidst talk of 'missing'. He held a meeting in the afternoon, in which Kalpana Soren also attended. After this, in the evening, a meeting of the legislature party of the Grand Alliance (JMM, Congress and RJD) was held at the CM House. 7 MLAs of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha did not attend this meeting. According to sources, it is being told that all these MLAs are angry with the discussion of making Hemant's wife Kalpana the Chief Minister.
Disagreements within the family regarding Kalpana Soren
There is no consensus in the family regarding making Kalpana Soren the CM in place of Hemant Soren. If sources are to be believed, Hemant Soren's sister-in-law Sita Soren and brother Basant Soren have not agreed on the name of Kalpana Soren. Sita Soren is JMM MLA and she is the wife of Hemant Soren's late elder brother Durga Soren. Basant Soren is the younger brother of CM Soren.

ED seized Soren's BMW
On January 27, Hemant Soren went to Delhi by charter plane. He held some meetings there. There was no news of him since then. On January 29, at 7 am, the investigating agency ED reached his residence in Delhi to interrogate him. Soren was not found there. The investigation team seized some important documents, BMW car and Rs 36 lakh cash from Hemant Soren's Delhi house. On January 30, the Governor of Jharkhand had also called the Chief Secretary and DGP of the state to the Governor House to get information about the CM. Only after that Hemant Soren reached Ranchi.
Banna Gupta gave a big statement
Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta said, “We are all with the government. Hemant Soren will be under investigation by ED, he himself has said. The government will not fall. Section 144 imposed in Ranchi
Last time when CM Soren was interrogated, a large number of JMM supporters had gathered outside the CM residence. In such a situation, law and order should not be affected in any way, it has been decided to implement Section 144. Section 144 will remain in force in Ranchi from 9 am to 10 pm on Wednesday.
The interrogation took place on January 20.
Earlier, on January 20, ED had interrogated Hemant Soren for about 7 and a half hours at the CM House. This inquiry was related to 8.46 acres of land located behind DAV Bariatu. The investigating agency had asked him questions related to his source of income and details given in his income tax return.
What is the land scam issue?
The land related matter came to light after the arrest of Ranchi officer Ali. On November 4, 2022, ED had raided several locations of Vishnu Aggarwal in the land scam. Later, summons were sent to Vishnu Aggarwal thrice for questioning. Along with all the land matters, Hemant Soren's name had come up in the purchase of Cheshire Home Road land. At the same time, fraud was also revealed in the purchase of 9.30 acres of Khas Mahal land in Pugadu.
During the raid on July 8 at the house of the Chief Minister's MLA representative Pankaj Mishra, who was arrested on July 19, 2022, the news of ED finding a check book related to the bank account of CM Hemant Soren came to light. ED has mentioned in the charge sheet filed in the PMLA court that the signatures of the Chief Minister were also on 2 blank cheques. Apart from the CM, his family's name is also coming to light in the land scam case.
