A minor girl in Kerala's Kasargod district, who consumed poison last week after allegedly being harassed by a friend she made on social media, died on Monday morning. Police confirmed the girl's death. According to the police, the 16-year-old Class 10 student was found unconscious due to poison inside her house in Badiyadka last Tuesday evening. He was shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru in a critical condition but was brought back to a hospital in Mangaluru after his health did not improve.

The girl's family alleged that she consumed poison due to constant harassment by a young man she met on social media. The police had earlier arrested 24-year-old Anwar in connection with the incident.
Another youth named Sahil was also arrested from Kumbla police station border area on charges of collusion with Anwar.
The girl's father revealed that when he came to know about the relationship between Anwar and the girl, he tried to end the relationship. She warned Anwar and blocked his daughter's phone number from her mobile phone. After this Anwar allegedly started harassing the girl.
Anwar would stop the girl while going to school, threaten to harm her father and disrupt the marriage of a female member of the family. Police said that Anwar has been arrested in Bengaluru and investigation into the incident has been started.
