Politics has once again heated up after the attack on the team of officers during the raid of National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Bhupatinagar, West Bengal. Denying any malice in its recent action in Bhupatinagar area, the NIA on Sunday rejected allegations of illegal activities leveled against it and termed the entire controversy as unfortunate.

Actually, the wife of arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Manobrata Jana has lodged an FIR against NIA officials. Moni Jana has alleged in the FIR that the officers tried to hurt her dignity by forcibly entering her residence in Bhupatinagar on the pretext of investigation. NIA has rejected these allegations.

It is known that the NIA on Saturday arrested two key conspirators, Manobrata Jana and Balai Charan Meiti, in the case of the 2022 blast in East Medinipur district of West Bengal. Three people were killed in the explosion. NIA clarified that its actions were bona fide, statutory and legally necessary. The investigating agency issued a statement on Sunday and presented its stand. The incident took place in December 2022 and on the instructions of the Calcutta High Court, the investigation of the case was handed over to the NIA on 6 June 2023.
