Bhubaneswar: In Odisha, the opposition Congress has described the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) as political partners and has said that there is a secret alliance between the two parties. This statement of Congress has come a few hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement in which he addressed Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as his friend during a program on Saturday.

While inaugurating the (IIM-Sambalpur) campus, PM Modi addressed Patnaik as “Chief Minister, my friend Mr. Naveen Patnaik ji”. Reacting to this, Congress' Odisha unit in-charge Ajay Kumar said that the Prime Minister did not utter a single word against Patnaik and his close aide VK Pandian.
The Congress in-charge said, “This proves that both BJD and BJP are together, that is why we organized their symbolic wedding recently.” They are in a secret alliance and Pandian established this bond after discussing with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. BJD is no longer a unique party, rather it has now become 'BJP'.
Rejecting these allegations of Congress, BJP's Odisha unit in-charge Manmohan Samal said, “The Prime Minister has indicated that some parties are opposing the development works. Now, people can see what can be done for them if the BJP government is formed in the state.
Patnaik thanked Modi for taking out time from his busy schedule to come to Odisha and grace the inauguration of the new campus of IIM-Sambalpur. Patnaik said, “The Honorable Prime Minister has set a new direction for India, and we are on our way to becoming an economic superpower. Our endeavor is to become the manufacturing hub of Eastern India and I am sure the Prime Minister will provide all necessary support to achieve this. ,
