Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will launch a computerization project for registrars of agricultural and rural development banks and cooperative societies on Tuesday, January 30. Through this project the entire cooperative system will be connected through digital medium. Due to which, along with modernization of the cooperative sector, efficiency will also increase. More than 1200 participants will participate in this program on Tuesday.

Currently 13 states and union territories have been included in the computerization project of Agricultural and Rural Development Banks. Under this, a target has been set to computerize 1851 units of ARDB and connect them with NABARD through a common national software.

There will be many benefits from the project
The government has set many goals with this project. Through this project, business processes will be standardized through common accounting system and management information system. This will bring operational efficiency, accountability and transparency. Apart from this, the transaction costs are to be reduced and loans should be distributed easily to the farmers. The government is also focusing on getting data of this project in real time for better monitoring and evaluation.

Computerization of Registrar Offices
Computerization of registrar offices of agricultural and rural development banks and cooperative societies of states and union territories is being considered as an important step by the ministry. The move will also benefit small farmers linked to ARDB for loans and related services through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS). This will also benefit those farmers who are associated with agricultural loans at the grassroots level.

More than 30,000 employed in the project
So far, more than 50,000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) have been on board in this project in the form of Common Service Center Scheme. In which more than 30,000 have started providing services. Additionally, the Ministry of Cooperation has set up a new National Cooperative Database in which data of more than 8 lakh cooperative societies is available and this database will soon be launched and made available to all.
