New Delhi: Havildar Preeti Rajak, trap shooter, has been promoted to the rank of Subedar. QSubedar Preeti Rajak is now the first woman Subedar of the Indian Army. Her achievement is an extraordinary display of women power. Subedar Preeti Rajak joined the Indian Army in the Military Police Corps on 22 December 2022 based on her proven performance in trap shooting. She is the first meritorious sportsperson to be enrolled in the Indian Army as a Havildar in the shooting discipline.

During the 19th Asian Games 2022 held in Hangzhou, China from 21 September-01 October 2023, Subedar Preeti Rajak won the silver medal in the trap women's team event. On the basis of his exceptional performance, he was awarded the first out-of-turn promotion as Subedar and Lieutenant General Gajendra Joshi, Commandant of the Infantry School, presided over the piping ceremony and commended the marksman for his excellent performance.
Subedar Preeti Rajak is currently ranked sixth in India (Trap Women event) and is training at the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) in preparation for the Paris Olympic Games 2024. Her great achievement will inspire generations of young women to come forward to join the Indian Army. He also created his own identity in professional shooting.
Padma Shri and Arjuna awardee Subedar Major and Honorary Lieutenant Jitu Rai were promoted to the rank of Subedar Major and Honorary Captain for their meritorious service.
