There was a time when doctors were called Gods of the earth in the society. Instead of considering this profession as a means of earning money, it was considered a medium of human service. But in changing times, some doctors are turning from God to monsters. Have turned your profession into a money making machine. Not only this, many doctors even commit heinous acts under the guise of this white collar profession. Such cases keep coming to the fore continuously. The latest case is from Lakhimpur district of Assam.
In Lakhimpur district of Assam, a nurse went to a hospital in the hope of a job. There he was asked to meet the owner and the most senior doctor of that hospital. She reached his cabin. After talking here and there, the doctor came to the lady nurse. He started teasing her by looking at her wrongly. After this he forcibly overpowered her and tried to rape her. The woman ran away from his cabin screaming.
After this she reached the local police station with her family members. There he narrated his entire ordeal to the police station in-charge. On the basis of the written complaint of the victim woman, the police have registered a case against the accused doctor under relevant sections of the IPC. The accused has been arrested and is being interrogated in police custody. A police officer said the arrest was made based on the woman's police complaint of molestation and attempted rape.

Let us tell you that in the year 2021 also, a case came to light which tarnished the medical profession. A doctor of a medical college in Dibrugarh, Assam, kept making his colleague a victim of lust by giving the pretext of marriage. The accused doctor worked as a registrar in the surgical unit of Assam Medical College. The woman and the doctor were in a relationship since 2018, but their parents were against this relationship.
According to the complaint lodged by the woman, the accused doctor refused to marry her. He said that he cannot marry. After this the victim woman had given a written complaint in the police station. On the basis of this, Dibrugarh Police had registered a case against the accused doctor under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. After this, the accused was arrested and presented before the local court, from where he was sent to jail.
In view of crimes against women, Assam is included in the top 10 states. According to the data of National Crime Records Bureau, 1733 rape cases were registered in Assam in the year 2021. In the same year, 6337 cases were registered in Rajasthan, 2947 in Madhya Pradesh, 2845 in Uttar Pradesh, 2496 in Maharashtra, 1716 in Haryana, 1456 in Odisha, 1425 in Jharkhand, 1188 in Andhra Pradesh and 1123 in West Bengal. In the year 2020, 1657 were recorded in Assam.
