Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) President Ghulam Nabi Azad on Monday criticized the Congress for its decision to launch the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' alone and accused it of ignoring potential allies. Azad said that walking alone will lead nowhere.

Azad told reporters here, “This (India alliance) was the only option left for the Congress party to form an alliance with various political parties, but it could not move forward due to its wrong policies.” Defaulting to a broader alliance. Highlighting the missed opportunity, Azad said, “Other political parties should have been taken along to travel together across the country and this would have sent a message.”

Azad ended his five-decade long association with the Congress on August 26, 2022 and announced his new party in Jammu a month later. Azad said, “Congress has nothing to offer, except perhaps Bihar. They have nothing in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, North-East and Odisha.
Azad also took a dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. In response to a question, he said that the Chief Minister of Bihar “behaves like an unrecognized party.”
