Cricket Australia has decided to give rest to these players to manage the workload. However, star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has returned to the team for the T20 series.

Pat Cummins' return in the T20 series against New Zealand is considered certain. This series will make it clear who will take charge of Australia in the T20 World Cup. Starc will also be seen playing in the series against New Zealand.
Maxwell returns
Mat Short has been given a chance in the team in place of Steve Smith. Recently Short has scored 541 runs in the Big Bash League. David will be seen handling the short opening along with Warner. Glenn Maxwell has returned to the team. Maxwell was earlier out of the ODI series. Fast bowler Nathan Ellis has also returned to the team.
