Shubman Gill Cricketer of the Year: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will honor Team India's former head coach Ravi Shastri tomorrow i.e. on Tuesday. Apart from this, a big award will be given to young opener batsman Shubhman Gill, who performed brilliantly in 2023.
Former Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri will be honored with BCCI's 'Lifetime Achievement Award'. Opener Shubman Gill will be given the Best Cricketer of the Year award for his excellent performance last year. Shubman Gill scored five centuries in ODIs in the last 12 months. Apart from this, he also became the fastest player to score two thousand runs in One Day International.
“He (Ravi Shastri) has been selected for the Samman (Lifetime Achievement Award) while Shubman Gill will be given the Cricketer of the Year award,” the BCCI official said.
For your information, let us tell you that BCCI is going to honor its players every four years. Before this, the last time BCCI honored its players was in 2019. Players from both India and England teams can be present in the BCCI function.
61 year old Ravi Shastri played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India. After saying goodbye to cricket, he also remained quite famous as a commentator. After this he became the director of Team India and then also became the coach.
Ravi Shastri was the coach of Team India twice. He joined the national team as team director from 2014 to 2016 and then took on the role of head coach under the captaincy of Virat Kohli from 2017 to the T20 World Cup in 2021. Under his guidance, India won two consecutive Test series in Australia. With Shastri as the coach, India also reached the final of the World Test Championship, but lost to New Zealand. Apart from this, under his coaching, India also reached the semi-finals of the 2019 ODI World Cup.
