Why was Babar Azam removed from captaincy? Former PCB Chief exposed a big secret theinsiderinsight

After Pakistan's poor performance in the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup, Babar Azam left the captaincy of all three formats. In such a situation, the captaincy of the T20 team was given to Shaheen Afridi. Now after a few months, Babar Azam has been made the captain again in the limited overs format. Let us tell you that in February, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) got a new chairman in the form of Mohsin Raza Naqvi, but now former chairman Zaka Ashraf has asked why Babar Azam was removed from the captaincy after the World Cup.

Expressing his displeasure over the removal of Shaheen Afridi from the captaincy, Zaka Ashraf said, “Shaheen Afridi should have been given more time, at least one year, so that his performance could be tested before taking any major decisions. We removed Babar.” The decision to remove him from the captaincy was taken because he is one of the best batsmen in the world, but the pressure of being a captain was getting to him, so we replaced him with Shaheen, so that he could concentrate on his batting. We wanted to keep Babar as the captain of the Test team, but he left the captaincy of all formats.”

PCB Chairman Naqvi had told that Babar Azam was unanimously re-elected captain. Recently, the Pakistani team has been in the headlines due to its unique methods of training, where the players are doing everything from gun firing to mountain climbing. Well, Babar Azam will return as captain in the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand and after that he will also be seen captaining in the T20 World Cup 2024. Shan Masood will be captaining the Test team.
