Not even a month had passed since Hasaranga's incident with the umpire, when he took out his retirement from Test cricket. A few days later, he was selected in the squad of 17 players for the 2-Test series against Bangladesh. As soon as Hasaranga was selected in the squad, his ban of 2 matches also came into effect. Sri Lanka had won by 328 runs in the first test match, in which Hasaranga did not play.
