1. MS Dhoni – 42 years
The oldest captain in IPL 2024 will be MS Dhoni, who will captain Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni has been the captain of CSK since the first season and has played 250 matches in IPL till now. In his historic career, he has scored 5,082 runs at an average of 38.79. Dhoni has played 24 half-century innings and is also one of the players who has hit the most sixes in the league. Dhoni has also hit 239 sixes in IPL till date.
2. Faf du Plessis – 39 years
Faf du Plessis has retired from Test cricket a long time ago, but he has not been seen playing white ball cricket for a long time. But he will be seen captaining Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2024. In 2022, Virat Kohli handed over the captaincy of the team to Du Plessis. Last season, Du Plessis had scored 730 runs while playing 14 matches. If we look at his IPL career, till date he has scored 4,133 runs in 130 matches and has also scored half-centuries 33 times.
3. Shikhar Dhawan – 38 years
Shikhar Dhawan had entered the Punjab Kings team in the year 2022, but at that time the captain was Mayank Agarwal. In 2023, the captaincy came into the hands of Dhawan and he will be seen captaining the team in IPL 2024 also. Dhawan has crossed 38 years of age and has not played international cricket for a long time. Well, in the last IPL season, he was able to score only 373 runs in 11 matches. Dhawan has scored 6,617 runs in his IPL career while playing 217 matches, which also includes 2 centuries and 50 half-centuries.
