One of many funniest males alive is vying for a brand new title: PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive!
On the New York Metropolis premiere of Despicable Me 4 on Sunday, June 9, Will Ferrell revealed his need to seem on PEOPLE’s iconic annual problem — and kicked off his marketing campaign.
The actor, 56, stated he’s “planting the seeds” to finish up on the quilt “since you guys by no means have comedians.”
“So get it going internally, all proper? Sexiest Man,” he added.

And Ferrell (who performs Despicable Me franchise newcomer Maxime Le Mal) dressed the half, channeling “an attractive villain” in his premiere outfit with darkish sun shades and an Adidas observe jacket — with the collar popped, in fact.
Or, extra particularly, “an attractive, soccer-playing villain,” Ferrell revised.
After laying extra groundwork for his Sexiest Man Alive marketing campaign with some not-so-subtle “subliminal” messaging, the comic joked that his Mega-Minion superpower can be “to be fluent in each language on the planet.”
Effectively, “and be Individuals Journal’s Sexiest Man of the Yr,” he stated, including, “Come on. Vote for comedians.”
However a comic book actor (and buddy of Ferrell’s) has been named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive — none apart from his Anchorman (and Shrink Subsequent Door!) costar Paul Rudd.
Rudd — who performs Brian Fantana, a part of Ron Burgundy’s information crew within the 2004 movie — acquired the dignity in 2021, telling PEOPLE on the time, “I imply I will lean into it arduous. I will personal this.”
“I am not going to attempt to be like ‘Oh, I am so modest,’ I am getting enterprise playing cards made,” the actor added. “However all of my mates will destroy me and I count on them to. And that is why they’re my mates.”

Despicable Me 4 really marked a mini (albeit Rudd-less) Anchorman reunion, as three of its stars, Ferrell, Kristen Wiig and Gru himself, Steve Carell, had been all castmates within the beloved comedy.
Twenty years after the trio — plus Rudd — starred within the movie collectively, Ferrell continues to be “so proud” of its legacy, he advised PEOPLE on the purple carpet.
“And I feel on the time, we could not consider we had been attending to make such a bizarre, weird film,” he added. “So I am simply so glad that it has form of stayed within the zeitgeist all these years.”
