There is news of a fierce encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. According to the information received regarding the incident, 18 Naxalites have been killed in this incident. Besides, a huge quantity of weapons have also been recovered in the encounter. Search operation is being conducted in the entire area by the security forces. There is also information about three soldiers being injured in the encounter. Regarding the incident, it is being told that this incident took place in Hapatola forest between Binagunda and Coronar under Chhotabetiya police station area of ​​Kanker.

According to information received by NDTV, four AK-47 assault rifles have also been recovered. Besides, Naxalite commander Shankar Rao, carrying a reward of Rs 25 lakh, was also killed in this encounter.

Three soldiers were injured in the incident
ADG Naxal Operations Vivekananda Sinha said that many Naxalites have been killed in the encounter. However, the number of Naxalites killed has not yet been officially confirmed. It has been said by the officials that the condition of the injured soldiers is said to be normal and out of danger. All necessary arrangements are being made for better treatment of the injured soldiers. Along with this, the searching operation is still going on in the area. The incident is said to have happened at 2 pm.

Campaign against Naxalites continues in Chhattisgarh
In recent times, continuous operations are being conducted against Naxalites in Chhattisgarh. In Bastar region, two rewarded Naxalites, including a woman Naxalite, had surrendered before the security forces and the security forces had arrested two militants. Police officials had said that in Sukma district, two Naxalites carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh each have surrendered and in Bijapur district, security forces have arrested two Naxalites.

Polling personnel will go to Naxal area by helicopter for voting
In the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, efforts to transport polling personnel through several helicopters were started on Tuesday amid tight security for the Naxal-affected Bastar seat. Voting on this seat will be held on April 19. Officials of the Chief Electoral Officer office in the state said that the process of sending electronic voting machines (EVMs) and polling teams to the polling stations located in sensitive areas of Bijapur and Sukma districts has been started.

There have been several incidents of Naxalite attacks on security forces during elections in both the districts located in the southern part of Bastar Lok Sabha constituency. Bijapur District Magistrate Anurag Pandey said that a total of 245 polling stations have been set up for the general elections in the district. Of these, 99 polling stations in interior areas have been shifted (to safe places).

26 Naxalites surrendered
There is a stir in the Naxalite camp due to the intense action of the security forces. In Dantewada, not one or two, but 26 Naxalites surrendered together. A rewarded Naxalite was also included among the Naxalites who surrendered. A reward of one lakh rupees was declared on him. Regarding the surrendered Naxalites, SP Gaurav Rai said that they were involved in all mischievous activities, which include putting up posters, banners, collecting supplies, committing arson, damaging government property and obstructing government work.
