Video footage of this meeting has gone viral, in which Riddhi Patel threatened to kill city officials for the “oppressed minorities”. He also took the name of Jesus Christ and claimed that he would also condemn the authorities. Riddhi Patel said in his speech, “I hope that one day someone will bring a guillotine and kill all of you.”
According to reports, Patel's threats were made during two separate speeches to the City Council that evening. He initially voiced support for the armistice proposal, but feared its rejection, describing the council members as “terrible human beings”. In his subsequent address, he criticized the installation of additional security measures such as metal detectors at the government building and labeled it as attempts to “criminalize” the protesters.

He said, “You guys, the people who voted to win in Bakersfield, parade around Gandhi and a Hindu holiday called Chaitra Navratri starts this week. I remind you that “In these holidays that we practice, others in the Global South believe in violent revolution against oppressors.”
He concluded his speech by saying, “We will see you at your home. We will kill you.”
Police detained Patel
Mayor Karen Goh immediately responded to Patel's threats and signaled the police officers present to take action. Patel was taken out of the chamber and taken into custody by the police. Bakersfield police said he faces 16 felony counts, including making threats with intent to terrorize and targeting city officials.
