Glenn Maxwell will no longer be seen in IPL 2024 took a break citing mental health theinsiderinsight

Glenn Maxwell Break From IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bangalore, yearning for victory in IPL 2024, has suffered a major setback. The team's star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has decided to take a break from cricket. It is now considered very difficult for Maxwell to play this season. Before the match against Hyderabad, Maxwell himself told RCB captain Faf du Plessis and the coach that now the time has come to give a chance to someone else in his place.

RCB's star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has decided to take a break from IPL due to his poor form in batting. He has once again distanced himself from cricket citing mental health. Earlier in 2019 also, Maxwell had stayed away from cricket for about six months due to mental health.

Maxwell was not included in the playing eleven for RCB's match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday. The reason for this was said to be a finger injury suffered during the last match against Mumbai Indians. However, Maxwell later admitted to dropping himself from the team.

Maxwell said in the press conference after the match, it was a very easy decision. I went to captain Faf du Plessis and the coach after the last match and said that maybe the time has come to try someone else in my place. This is a good time to give yourself some mental and physical rest and get your body fit. If there is a need to include me during the tournament, hopefully I can come back in a strong state mentally and physically and make an impact.

This is the second time in Maxwell's career that the all-rounder has decided to stay out of competitive cricket for his own mental and physical fitness. Maxwell had taken a similar break in October 2019 and then he had said that he needed rest mentally and physically. After a few months, this 35 year old player made a comeback.

In the current season of IPL, he has not been able to make any significant contribution with the bat in six matches, he has scored only 32 runs at a strike rate of 94, out of which he scored 28 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders.
