Cricket World Cup: South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe are going to organize the ODI Cricket World Cup 2027 together. This tournament will be played in the months of October and November in the year 2027. Now news is coming out that those 8 grounds located in South Africa have been announced, in which the World Cup matches will be played. Considering the excitement of the 2023 World Cup, the next tournament may prove to be more explosive. This will be only the second time in history that South Africa and Zimbabwe will be hosting the ICC World Cup, while Namibia is going to do so for the first time.
In which 8 grounds of South Africa will the matches be played?
Talking about the matches to be held in South Africa, Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Centurion Park in Pretoria, Kingsmead in Durban, apart from St. George Park, SuperSport Park, Newlands Stadium, Buffalo Park and The Mangaung Oval have been selected for them. Cricket South Africa's CEO Pholetsi Moseki said about this announcement, “This decision has been taken keeping in mind the idea of simplifying the hotel rooms and airport facilities. We have 11 ICC approved grounds, so the rest It was difficult to ignore 3, but this decision has been taken keeping many issues in mind.”
Let us tell you that due to being hosts, South Africa and Zimbabwe have already qualified directly for the 2027 ODI Cricket World Cup. But the third host country, Namibia, will have to secure its place in the World Cup by doing well in the African Qualifiers tournament. The teams finishing in the top-8 in the ICC rankings will qualify directly for the tournament. Apart from the hosts, the remaining 4 teams will have to make a place in the tournament through qualifiers.
